made this quilt for my sister Kate’s 40th birthday. The idea was to make a second similar quilt for myself so that as sisters we had sister quilts—in November 2000 this second quilt was still in progress. The second quilt is of similar colours but different fabrics and the same size. These sister quilts celebrate our sisterly similarities and differences. The quilt is what I call “cuddle size” with the idea that whilst we live in different countries we can still give each other a hug. It’s a good size to throw over a sofa or could look stunning hung on the wall.
The instructions are aimed at the novice or beginner quilter who wants to "jump in at the deep end" and tackle a quilt which would normally suit those with intermediate quilting skills. The text and diagrams give detailed explanations of required stitches and assembly, with additional information about how to achieve an accurate and appealing result. See a sample diagram here.
