Printed Shapes for English Piecing

Our range of printed shapes is designed to save you time and hassle when piecing your quilt. Each printed shape paper design is available in packs containing all the same shape. Some shapes are also available in packs to make a specfic design and packs containing different shapes that go together.

You save time by avoiding the hassle of arranging photocopying of template sheets onto card stock. Many printing centres are unable or unwilling to photocopy in small numbers onto anything else than ordinary bond copy paper. You may also find that photocopied sheets will transfer toner from the papers to fabric if heat or moisture is applied - for example steam ironing.

You avoid the disappointment of finding that your photocopied sheets are not quite the same size as your template sheet. Our printed shapes are not photocopied. They are printed directly from a CAD (Computer Aided Design) document on a printer that gives a professional, high quality, accurate image.

You get papers that will be easy to work with. For best results, foundation papers should be neither too thin nor too thick. Our papers are printed on card stock that is ideal for the purpose. We have also undertaken extensive testing to minimise the risk of our papers marking your fabric if heat or moisture is applied to the papers.

You save money! Our printed shapes are much cheaper than the equivalent die cut products. Of course you do have to cut the shapes out, but whenever possible our sheets are designed to minimise the number of cuts you need to make.

Our Foundation Papers are all:

  • Printed using inks suitable for the purpose. They do not use dye based inks and will not run if you accidentally get them wet;
  • Printed on high quality A4 card stock that is just the right weight and stiffness for foundation piecing. Standard copy paper is too flimsy to easily feel the edge of the shape through the fabric;
  • Designed with you in mind. The shapes are laid out so that you can cut out the pieces with the optimum number of cuts. Each shape is separate from its neighbour so that if you make a mistake only that shape is spoilt. In addition, we put a sensible number of shapes on each sheet. For example, where ever possible we put the required number of component shape parts on a page to enable you to make a complete shape or shapes;
  • 100% accurate. Each sheet is printed directly from our computer aided design system which eliminates inaccuracies that may be introduced when photocopying.
